Starting from November 1, 2024, NSW residents with rooftop solar systems will be eligible for significant incentives to install a home battery and connect it to a Virtual Power Plant (VPP).
In its efforts to reduce carbon emissions by 70% by 2035 (and achieve net zero by 2050), the NSW government announced that it would be offering up to $2,400 worth of rebates for residents installing a new solar battery on their home or business. Additionally, by connecting that battery to a VPP, you may also be able to get $250 to $400 twice, with a minimum interval of three years.
To be eligible to qualify, you’ll need:
- An existing rooftop solar system.
- An eligible battery (capacity between 2 and 28 kWh).
- A new installation (upgrades of existing batteries are not included).
- An accredited solar supplier.
